January 2010

Dear AAPU membership,

It was my distinct honor to have served as the AAPU Secretary-Treasurer for the last 5 years. I enjoyed partnering with the outstanding AAPU presidents David Moorehead, Marty Koyle, Irene McAleer, Ross Decter and Larry Baskin. During that time we successfully launched our website, secured CME certification for our annual meetings, co-sponsored the International Pediatric Urology Symposium that will take place in Israel in March of 2010 and increased our membership to 148 members (with the latest addition of 10 new members). The support from industry continues to be strong and their participation in the meeting itself surely has allowed a unique interaction and relationship for all of us. I am looking forward to work closely with my good friend Bob DeFoor, who was elected to be AAPU Secretary-Treasurer for the next term.

All of us who attended the 2010 AAPU meeting in NAPA enjoyed the camaraderie of a terrific event at a great venue. I would like to again thank Larry Baskin for organizing yet another successful annual AAPU meeting. The presentations at our meeting were superb including clinical and scientific research, case management and multi-center research opportunities. The scientific sessions continue to be excellent, with open and honest dialogue.

I am excited to report that our next meeting will be in Beaver Creek, Colorado at the Beaver Creek Lodge. The Beaver Creek Mountain is considered to be one of the best ski resorts in the US. It offers incredible terrain for all levels of skiers. It has an outstanding ski/snowboard school and an excellent Nordic center. Beaver Creek village offers numerous quaint shops, art galleries, restaurants and bars, an ice rink, and the Vilar Center for the Arts. The Beaver Creek Lodge (www.beavercreeklodge.net) is the ski-to/ski-from luxury all-suite boutique hotel with AAA Four-Diamond Award. Please reserve our usual dates for our next meeting Monday, January 17 through Saturday, January 22, 2011. Along with our usual academics associated with CME credits, we will plan a number of extracurricular family outings. No other meeting combines a relaxed atmosphere for the outstanding academic program with the varied social and family activities.
I hope to see many of you in Beaver Creek.

Best regards,

Eugene Minevich
