Message from the president
Welcome to the official website of the American Association of Pediatric Urologists!
We are a group of over 180 physicians from across the United States and Canada that are dedicated to the care of children with genito-urinary conditions. As a non-profit organization, we strive to promote educational and research endeavors in our field. We aim to foster discussion and informational exchanges between practitioners.
In January 2015, we held an outstanding meeting hosted by our Past President, Dr. Joseph Ortenberg, at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise near Banff, Canada. An outstanding academic program was conducted with the usual thought provoking presentations and extensive discussions. We obtained 15.5 hours of Category 1 Continuing Medical Education credit through the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center CME Department.
Our next annual meeting is scheduled for January 18 – 22nd, 2016, at the JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort and Spa in the wonderful country of Costa Rica. We last had a meeting on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in 2012, and it was overall a rousing success. This peaceful, stable country is one of the best destinations for adventure and eco-tourism. As you can imagine, the venue will be spectacular with multiple opportunities for local activities such as golf, horseback riding, deep-sea fishing, relaxing on the beach, zip lining, as well as volcano tours.
The area is easily accessible with direct flights from Atlanta, Houston, and Miami to the Liberia airport. The JW Marriott is approximately an 80 minute ride away. The JW resembles a luxury style hacienda complete with spa, beach, and a nearby 18 hole golf course. There is a free form infinity pool, whirlpools, fitness center, bike trails, six restaurants, and two bars. The quaint surfing village of Tamarindo is 10 miles from the hotel.
As always, our meeting planner, Maureen McCarthy, can help with all your reservation needs. She can be reached at Maureen@global-meeting-solutions.com.
As a final note, only AAPU members who are up to date with their annual dues may register for the meeting. Hope to see you in Costa Rica in January!
